Venereology is a branch of medicine that studies sexually transmitted diseases (sexually transmitted infections).
Venereology – the science of the course, prevention and treatment of venereal diseases. It got its name only in the XIV century thanks to Jean Fernel (French doctor), who named it after the goddess of love (from the ancient Romans) – Venus.
But later, in 1974, due to the discovery of a huge number of diseases, WHO experts introduced a new name – STDs (sexually transmitted diseases). Today, in their structure, it is customary to isolate classical or old venereal diseases (syphilis, gonorrhea, venereal lymphogranuloma, soft chancre, donomoz) and urogenital, or new venereal diseases (ureaplasmosis, chlamydia, trichomoniasis, microplasmosis, cytomegalovirus, gardneremollosis, arthropathy, chydromiasis, cytomegalovirus, gardnemomas, chydromiasis, cytomegalovirus, chromidiosis, chlamydia, cystomegalovirus , HIV infection, human papillomavirus).
